Wednesday 9 Dec. — Opening
Satellite workshop (1) — "Artificial intelligence in education and research"
An interactive session in which participants take an active part: hands-on work with tools, collaborative building, and a focus on AI for science. The session examines the conditions for a considered use of AI in research, assessment and knowledge production.

Thursday 10 Dec. — Heritage & foundations
Opening session
Official opening ceremony, tribute to the chemist Max Monan, and inaugural lecture on the interactions between tropical biodiversity and scientific innovation. A closer look at the materia medica collection of the Musée François Tillequin and the heritage value of collections relating to the Caribbean.

Session 1 — Micro-worlds (part 1)
Genetic signature of tropical fruits, the cell wall as a key structure for R&D and innovation, and bioinformatics and artificial intelligence in the service of biodiversity. First poster screening session.

Papers on diatoms, coastal fungi and mangroves. Second poster screening, documentary film, a plenary lecture within the One Health approach, then a round table on the contribution of science to the ecological transition and to society.

Workshop (2) — "Modern methods of biodiversity analysis"
Applied genetics and modern methods of tropical biodiversity analysis, based on data from Martinique.

Friday 11 Dec. — Environment & transitions
Session 2 — Balances & interfaces
Ecological interfaces and balances: the tombolo, soil health, the effects of pollutants, sargassum, and the links between land–sea continuity and public health. A further poster screening session.

Cosmetics derived from local biodiversity, bioprocesses, aquaponics, food sovereignty and wetland biodiversity.

Site visits
The symposium closes with visits to sites connected to the themes addressed during the scientific days, extending the discussions with a perspective from the field.

CIB-5 welcomes proposals for papers and posters on tropical biodiversity, land–sea interfaces, applied genetics, coastal ecology, environmental health, pollution, scientific innovation and the development of local resources.
